Safe Passage? Risks and dangers in a fixture

On Tuesday 17th November 2015, Wista Switzerland and the Managers of the UK Defence Club will welcome the International and Swiss shipping community in the enchanting setting of the Beau-Rivage Hotel in Geneva on the occasion of the seminar Safe Passage? Risks and Dangers in a fixture. Shipping companies, charterers, oil traders, brokers, local and international banks, legal firms, insurance companies and agents already confirmed their attendance, making this first edition not simply a seminar but an occasion for a lively discussion on a hot maritime topic.

 Fixing a ship, especially in such a volatile market as it is nowadays, bears along many risks and possible consequent dangers: they will be analyzed in detail and the gathered audience will be taken through a number of challenging scenarios, in which the different perspectives of the owner and those of the charterer will both be explored. Yasmina Rauber, Wista Switzerland President and General Manager of Alcotra, will open the seminar at 11:30, welcoming the distinguished speakers and audience.

Mariella Bottiglieri, M.D. Giuseppe Bottiglieri Shipping Company and Director of the UK Defence Club, will introduce the topic to be covered. Nick Milner, Kieron Moore and Hannah Charles, Managers of the UK Defence Club, will move into top gear, covering the analysis of risks and dangers related to what the judicial system has defined as “safe passage”. In the first part of the seminar, the audience’s attention will be drawn to the perspective from a ship-owner’s side, while in the second part the same topic will be seen from the charterer’s point of view: the different approach promises to create an interesting debate.
