Seatrade Tanker Middle East announced for Seatrade Maritime Middle East
10 giugno 2016 - Riding on the wave of positive industry news from the tanker shipping market, Seatrade has announced the return of its popular Seatrade Tanker conference in the new guise of Seatrade Tanker Middle East. The newly rebranded conference will take place as part of Seatrade Maritime Middle East and Dubai Maritime Week.
Reaffirming the decision, Chris Hayman, Chairman of Seatrade, said: “In light of discussions that I have had with senior stakeholders in the industry and general market feedback, I am pleased that we can reintroduce this important topic to the overall programme in the knowledge that the tanker shipping market is continuing to perform well – despite difficult global doldrums.”
Seatrade Tanker Middle East, which takes place on Tuesday 1 October in the Forum area at Seatrade Maritime Middle East, will be moderated by Katharina Stanzel, Manager Director of Intertanko, bringing with her significant industry expertise. Speakers confirmed include: Stavroula Betsakou, Head of Tanker Research, Howe Robinson Partners and Phrixos Papachristidis, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Hellespont Ship Management.
Asked why the tanker shipping market is performing better than other shipping sectors, Mr Hayman commented: “The low oil price has continued to benefit the tanker market which has enjoyed its best times since 2008 across both crude and product sectors.
“Current trends suggest that the strength of the tanker market has some way to continue with the low oil price driving demand both for transport and storage. New refinery developments also bode well for the product tanker sector, and a tight market in terms of finance is positive in terms of winding down the orderbook without a surge in new orders despite low prices.
“Meanwhile the return of Iran to the market and US crude exports add an interesting dynamic that alters trade flows and adds to tanker demand. Consequently, the outlook for the tanker market remains a robust one.”
Topics during the half day conference include a comprehensive discussion on the fundamentals of the crude oil tanker market and an analysis of the factors influencing the shape of product tanker demand and those driving it, including refining, and the composition of the order book. Delegates will be encouraged to enter discussion with the panel speakers and a networking luncheon will follow the morning session.
