Two super boilers “made in Italy” take off from Venice

3 March 2016 – At the crack of dawn two large twin boilers – manufactured by Macchi, a division of the Sofinter group - have taken off from the Port of Venice (Multiservice terminal), with the Middle East as destination. They are the first two parts of a plant for the production of industrial steam and electricity which will be completed in 2016 thanks to the shipping of 4 other parts, again with technology and production Made in Italy.

The Sofinter Group is leading in the international electricity market and with its Macchi brand it is the world leader in the design and building of industrial boilers and cogeneration heat recovery boilers to be installed in industrial plants from the oil & gas and petrochemical sector. Sofinter S.p.A. has chosen to open in December 2015 a production plant at Porto Marghera where road ways and quay access were especially designed to favour the loading of project cargo. These characteristics, together with the specialization of its terminal and logistic operators, make the Port of Venice the ideal hub for the production, assembly and shipping of project cargo to export the best Italian excellences and technologies worldwide.

The two products weigh over 520 tonnes each, are almost 20 meters long and over 14 meters wide and 12 metres tall and were loaded thanks to the experience of Fagioli Spa, a leading company that since 1955 has been working in the field of transport and installation of project cargo (including the Calatrava Bridge, the Northern Adriatic Regasification plant and the Toti submarine in Milan).
